Some wounds heal in a day. Some in a week, some in months, and some even leave scars that stay visible for years or maybe forever.

But no wound heals instantly. Have you ever thought why?

If wounds were to heal so quickly, there wouldn’t be anyone visiting their loved ones when they get sick and go to the hospital, or anyone helping you get up when you fall down. Band-Aids would have never been invented and bungee jumping wouldn’t be called an extreme sport.

Healing a wound, or having one for that matter, means more than blood platelets doing their magic in your blood vessels.

Because when you cut your knee when you fell down when you were learning how to walk, you learned that you needed to try harder the next time, and now you know how to walk.

Because when you lost a game of chess to your grandpa, your not wanting to lose to him made you learn the game until you eventually beat him.

Because when you make a mistake, hurt your friend, and your friend becomes mad at you, you learn how important your friend is to you and you know what you shouldn’t do so you don’t hurt your friend again.

Wounds do not heal in an instant, nor does forgiveness come that easily.

But the moments in between, the lessons you learn, and the fact that you survived through it all, are things to be treasured.
